Screening: Amazing Grace

Free screening in Berkeley today:

In Amazing Grace (Best Film, 1992 Jerusalem International Film Festival), writer/director
Amos Guttman (DRIFTING 1983) examines the relationship that develops between Jonathan,
an 18-year-old openly gay Israeli, and Thomas, his 30-year-old upstairs neighbor. Thomas
just returned from living in New York, and is secretly dealing with an undiagnosed illness that
he fears is AIDS. This complex and compelling drama was the first feature film to touch upon
issues surrounding HIV/AIDS in Israeli society.

Amazing Grace is playing as part of the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival and the
Consulate General of Israel's OUT IN ISRAEL film series, a special showcase of new, recent
and classic films from Israel exploring lesbian and gay life, imagery and stories. The series is
part of the Consulate General of Israel's larger month-long celebration of LGBT Israeli culture
to include literary readings, musical performances, dance, lectures, and much more. For more
information, visit www.outinisrael.org.
